Dicen, tradicionalmente, que “los ojos son el espejo del alma”, y personalmente estoy convencido de ello.
La mayor parte del tiempo vivimos encerrados en la burbuja de nuestra vida: nuestros oficios, proyectos, gustos y sueños. Nos rodeamos de personas, pero solemos ver solo lo superficial: qué ropa traen, cómo están peinados o cómo caminan. A veces esas mismas personas se acercan y nos hablan, pero solo captamos lo que nos conviene, aquello que nuestro ego nos permite ver. Ese ego, esa gran barrera formada por frustraciones, temores y complejos, nos ciega al mundo interior que cada persona lleva consigo, un mundo lleno de opiniones, historias y perspectivas que podrían enriquecer nuestra visión de la vida.
A menudo, nos sentimos superiores de una u otra forma. Creemos que algunas personas no son dignas de nuestra atención, ni siquiera de un saludo. No perdonamos sus errores, no aceptamos una ofensa. Pero, ¿acaso no nos equivocamos a diario? ¿Qué nos hace pensar que somos tan intocables como para negar a alguien la oportunidad de conocernos o de permitirnos entrar en su mundo?
Es inevitable que formemos una primera impresión de los demás. Pero, ¿te has preguntado si realmente has sido tú mismo en esas interacciones?
Nuestro comportamiento, condicionado por diversas circunstancias, puede proyectar una versión defectuosa de nuestro ser. Una palabra inoportuna o un gesto descortés puede eclipsar en un instante nuestras mejores virtudes. Entonces, ¿no sería justo dar y darnos una segunda oportunidad para conocernos auténticamente? Todos llevamos el peso de nuestras propias vidas: obstáculos, problemas y días difíciles, razones suficientes para tropezar de vez en cuando.
Si tomamos conciencia de esto, entenderemos cuán imperfectos somos y cuán necesarios son esos momentos para reinventarnos, reconciliarnos y dejar el ego a un lado. Podemos mostrarnos tal como somos y aceptar a los demás por lo que son.
¿Te sientes orgulloso de lo que has logrado en tu vida? ¿Eres consciente de que somos la suma de cada pequeño hábito cotidiano?
Algunos aman el deporte; otros, el arte, la tecnología o simplemente contemplar el paisaje mientras piensan en la vida. Es esa sensibilidad ante los detalles más simples lo que refleja la verdadera grandeza del espíritu. No son el estatus social, el puesto laboral, la religión o el salario los que nos definen.
Desechemos esos conceptos banales y aprendamos a ver más allá. Reconozcamos el brillo en los ojos de quien nos habla desde el corazón, de quien comparte un pedacito de su vida, como su amor por el amanecer cuando tú prefieres el atardecer; de quien disfruta madrugar mientras tú prefieres dormir un poco más.
Todos tenemos razones, luces y sombras, pero hay algo que compartimos: un universo infinito de estrellas que esperan ser descubiertas por alguien más.
